2024 will mark the 40th Annual Navajo Christmas Airlift. Pilots from across the Southwest fly needed items of clothing, blankets, toys, toiletries, and food to Gallop, New Mexico. November 10, 2024 a memorial service was held at Mesa Cemetery to honor the 23 fallen Royal Air Force Cadets that trained during WWII at Falcon Field in Mesa. The cadets are buried in a "British Plot" that is forever England. "Missing Man Formation Flyby" of vintage aircraft was followed by Civil Air Patrol placing 10 Wreaths at the base of the grave marker as part of the ceremony.
Civil Air Patrol's Aerospace Connections in Education (ACE) program is a K-6 multidisciplinary educational experience that uses the aerospace theme to promote academics. It focuses on STEM, character education, and physical fitness for a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The program is in its 18th year and has impacted three-quarters of a million students nationwide.

Ceremony to recognize two historical Civil Air Patrol events: Operation Pulse Lift (OPL) 100th Blood Donor event at the Falcon Squadron, Falcon Field, Mesa, AZ., and the 500th Blood Donor event in OPL's history.

Civil Air Patrol pilots Captain John Giddings (left) and Major David Roden help to bring Christmas gifts to the Navajo Reservation. Fox 10 was on site at the Chandler Airport when the pilots loaded their Cessna 182 with gifts in preparation for the flight to Winslow, New Mexico.
Cockpit Close-Up! is held on the first Saturday of the month at the main terminal at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ. Volunteer pilots open their aircraft to families and answer questions about flying, training, and aviation careers. Civil Air Patrol was spotlighted this month and was attended by dozens of children with siblings and parents. There were smiles, giggles and lots of questions when children sat in the pilot seat talking to pilots.
The Public Safety Expo featured 150 vendors, SWAT and firefighting vehicles, police K9 demos, and rescue equipment. The K9 competition featured Tactical Challenges and Handler Protection obstacles like a 7-foot barrier, call-offs, extractions, and more. The event was held at WestWorld over the weekend of October 21-22.
After months of preparation, nearly 200 Red Cross volunteers worked 13 first aid stations along the 5.5 mile New Year's Day parade route.
Initial first aid stations, December 28-31, were in place in Irwindale and Pasadena for pre-parade float decorating activities. Parade day and post-parade operations were held on January 1 and 2.
On New Year's Day, Red Cross volunteers start patrolling the parade route after the 6:00 am role call. They continue to look out for parade viewers until the parade passes their individual first aid station and all patients have been released.
Red Cross has been providing first aid stations for Rose Parade for nearly 40 years.
The theme of the 2019 LA County Fair was "The Fair Goes Pop" and featured carnival rides, animals, art, music, food, The Farm, and a concert line-up of varied and well know artists with their best-known songs! The opportunities to take pictures were endless - daytime, afternoon or evening there was always something to see, do and photograph!
Deana Martin was welcomed back to Herb Albert's Vibrato Grill & Jazz Club again in July 2019. She performed three sold out nights sharing her talents and stories of her father with the audience made up of celebrities, friends, and family.
Deana Martin! Performed in March at Herb Albert’s Vibrato Grill & Jazz Club in Bel Air, CA. Deana put on two stunning performances with some of the best loved songs of the 50’s and 60’s. The club was sold out both nights and she held everyone’s attention throughout. During the performance she shared numerous stories about life growing up with her dad, Dean Martin, and his “pallies” known as the Rat Pack. Deana has several CD’s, vinyl records, and a book titled “Memories Are Made of This: Dean Martin Through His Daughter’s Eyes.” Deana will return to the Vibrato July 23, 24 and 25.
The 14th Annual Music for the Missions, sponsored by the Comboni Missionaries, was held on May 5 at St. Louise de Marillac Church in Covina, CA. The church was near capacity for the event and was very well received by both new and returning audience members. Songs were accompanied by extremely talented artist and a choreographed slideshow.
Proceeds from the concert benefit street children in Kampala, Uganda and Lima, Peru.

The Comboni Missionary 13th annual Music For The Missions was held May 6, 2017 in Covina. Donations funded four mission projects in three countries: two projects in Uganda, one in Zambia and one in Guatemala. Alex Lagman Music Director, Sal Maliki, Edna Monique, Vivian Tang and Florella Castro were part of the all-star cast that night.
The American Red Cross provides first aid services for the Tournament of Roses under the supervision of the Pasadena Fire Department every year on New Year's Day. First aid stations are also provided for TOR for several events in the days leading up to New Year's: Band Fest, float decorating, and Post Parade float viewing. The San Gabriel Pomona Valley chapter of the American Red Cross has been providing these services since the 1980's.
Fr. Xavier Colleoni celebrated his 90th birthday and 65 years of priesthood on May 8, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Los Angeles. Fr. Xavier told me he is still able to celebrate up to three Masses a day - on occasion. He still actively manages the candle making operation at Holy Cross which he has done for decades. His brother Fr. Enrico Colleoni, also a Comboni Missionary, flew in from his mission in Malawi-Zambia to concelebrate, and his sister flew in from Italy. At the altar: (left-right) Fr. Jose Alberto Pimentel, Fr. The Comboni English and Spanish leagues worked diligently at the side of Fr. Jorge Ochoa to make this one of our best events ever - all seats were sold well in advance. Fr. Jose Pimentel Guzman, Comboni Missionary from Holy Cross Church in Los Angeles, spoke to the nearly 230 people in the room about his experiences as a new priest in Sudan, and the present need for more "missionary friends." After his talk, two short videos and dessert, mariachis played, and the room filled with dancing, chatter and good times well past 11:00 pm. The event was held at Sacred Heart Church, Covina, inside the beautiful Cavanagh Hall.
